Two types of medical conditions exist—acute and chronic. Acute diseases make a quick appearance and patients can suffer a range of symptoms that in some cases may be life-threatening if not promptly treated. Trinity Medical Group can treat these conditions as they arise.

TYPES OF ACUTE CONDITIONS

ANEMIA

Anemia is a condition in which there are not enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to body tissue. Symptoms may include fatigue and weakness. It can be temporary or long term, and it can range from mild to severe. Treatments for anemia range from dietary changes, taking supplements or undergoing medical procedures. Since there are many causes of anemia, it is best to see your physician for diagnosis and treatment.

COLD & FLU

Cold and flu are very common afflictions that both have symptoms that range from mild to severe. Though they are not serious conditions in the long-run, they may keep you from your everyday life while recovering.

Some methods stave off these afflictions—washing your hands regularly and drinking plenty of water. An annual flu shot can also prevent some strains of the flu. Trinity Medical Group offers a variety of medical services for the prevention and treatment of both of these afflictions. Our experienced physicians can advise you on what measures you can take, about how to detect allergy symptoms so as not to misdiagnose yourself, and also give you preventive shots. In case you are already suffering from a cold or flu, we can help alleviate the symptoms.

INCONTINENCE

Incontinence is a common, embarrassing problem. Severity ranges from occasionally leakage when coughing or sneezing to having a sudden urge to urinate that’s so strong that you cannot make it to the toilet.

The cause of this condition varies and should be discussed with your physician. Once the physician has made a diagnosis as to which type of condition is present, treatment will be decided to help you manage it. Some medications can help, as well as exercises to strengthen the bladder muscles and help stop the leakage. If necessary, surgery might be recommended to tighten the pelvic muscles or address an enlarged prostate.

While undergoing treatment for incontinence or overactive bladder disorder, absorbent clothing aids and pads are recommended to keep any leakage away from your skin. Since the skin in that area will become very sensitive and easily irritated, keeping clean and switching to a lighter detergent will help.

INFECTIONS

Three kinds of infections exist—bacterial, viral, and fungal. Bacterial infections are the most common and occur when bacteria—single-celled microorganisms—invade the human body. These types of infections can be treated with antibiotics. Viral infections invade the body and take over living cells, producing more viruses and causing infections like ear and sinus infections. Though these types of infections are notoriously difficult to treat, antiviral medication may be prescribed. Fungal infections occur when fungi—found in water, air and in the soil—come in contact with the skin. Fungal infections can cause ringworm, athletes foot, and yeast infections, which may be treated with topical or oral antifungal medication.

HEAT EXHAUSTION

Heat exhaustion is a condition that results from exposure to high temperatures, usually combined with high humidity and physical activity. The symptoms of your body overheating include heavy sweating, a rapid pulse, cold and clammy skin, and feelings of anxiety and fatigue. Without treatment, heat exhaustion can lead to heatstroke, a life-threatening condition. Treatment includes resting in a cool place, drinking cool fluids, and loosening clothing.

If you are at risk for heat exhaustion, your Trinity Medical Group physician can give you some advice on further measures of preventing the condition.

SKIN DISORDERS

Skin disorders cover a broad range of conditions, including measles, chicken px, roseola, staph infections, bacterial infections of the skin, scabies, warts, acne, and rosacea. They can be flat or bumpy, blistered, like pinpricks, or even be seen in a circular pattern. They can be flaky and dry or weepy and wet.

At Trinity Medical Group, our skilled doctors have had vast experience with treating all kinds of skin disorders. We can also educate you about how to keep them at bay.
